The Poconos | Fall 2020

We headed to the Poconos Mountains in Northern Pennsylvania this October as a first anniversary trip, and let us tell you - it was MAGICAL! We chose the Poconos because we visited friends who live outside of Philadelphia as they just had a baby (she's the sweetest nugget), and the Poconos didn't require an extra plane ticket. While we went to see fall leaves, we didn't expect how truly amazing the trip would be. We recommend to anyone and everyone to visit at least once - trust us, you won't be dissapointed! Details of our trip & photos below!!

Where we stayed: Skytop Lodge. We absolutely LOVED our stay! We initally chose Skytop because of the on-ground hiking trails that didn't require long drives, but we were so impressed with the property and the service. First off, the hiking trails were GORGEOUS! Literally, we felt like we were in a magial tree world!!

The food: There were several restaraunts and places to eat on-property, which was extremely convenient. Additionally, all of the food and drinks were great! We highly recommend ensuring you stop at the Taproom and get a giant pretzel, and the Windsor room porkchop is incredible!

The property also has several fun perks, like midday cookies, shuttles, firepits, and a gameroom - we spent lots of time at the ping-pong table in the evenings and during a gloomy morning!

Our room was in the Inn, which we really loved! It's a short walk away from the main lodge, but we loved the smaller building, and the rooms were updated with a patio that looked at the golf course and lake - it even had a fireplace. It was perfect! Overall, a great property that we highly recommend staying at!

How we got there: We flew United (not our fav) and rented a car from Avis (it was great!). If you fly United during the pandemic, we highly recommend bringing wipes to wipe down your plane seat and area - that made us feel better about the tight spaces. Also, United isn't doing any type of snack or drink service, so make sure you fill up your water bottle between flights.

Tips: We stopped at Camelback Mountain Adventures on our way back to Philly, and it was so fun! We didn't have time for the 4000' zipline, but we so wish we would have done it! We did the 1000' zipline and the mountain coaster - highly recommend one or two rides on the mountain coaster, so fun!
